JUSTIN  ALEXANDER  -  ?/?/?

Justin got his start as a crew chief in 2006 where he headed up two starts for Jimmie Johnson in the Xfinity series. He next shot at being crew chief would come in 2014 when he was hired by Richard Childress Racing to call the shots for Paul Menard for five races. He was brought on board full time in 2015; but mid-way threw the 2016 season; he was replaced and moved down to lead various drivers in the RCR stable in the Xfinity Series. Richard "Slugger" Labbe replaced Alexander. In 2017 Labbe was crew Chief for Austin Dillon; but after the race in Kansas; Labbe resigned sighting he was leaving to pursue other opportunities. Alexander immediately replaced Labbe; and their first race together would come in the Coke 600. The pair used fuel strategy to pull off an improbable win. It was the first win for both Dillon and Alexander. The pair would kick off the 2018 season by winning "the worlds greatest race" when Dillon moved Aric Almirola in the final corner of the Daytona 500 to get the win. Things would go downhill from there though, as Dillon

was only able to get two Top 5 and eight Top 10 finishes the rest of the year.  They finished 13th in the 2018 points.  After such a disappointing season, Danny Stockman has been brought in to lead Austin in 2019. Stockman has worked with Austin before.  He led Dillon in the Truck series in 2010 and 2011; winning the Championship in 2011.  Then in 2012 and 2013 he paired with Dillon in the Xfinity series. They won the championship there in 2013.  Dillon's season with Stockman was a disappointment.  During 2019 Justin called the shots for a few Cup races with various drivers Most notably he was crew chief for Tyler Reddick when he ran two Cup races for RCR where Reddick finished ninth in only his second Cup start.  2020 saw Alexander lead Austin Dillon to a win at Texas.  They were eliminated from the Chase at the end of the second round.  They finished eleventh in season.  The pair was together in 2021.  The season proved to be dismal as Dillon was only able to post one Top 5 finish and eight Top 10’s.  With the introduction of the new NextGen car in 2022 it was hoped they would see major improvement.  So far, Alexander has spent his whole career as a crew chief with Richard Childress Racing.  Although 2022 wasn't a great season; it was probably the best season for Dillon to date.  He finished second at Fontana; just losing to Kyle Larson.  He was second again at Talladega.  With 15 winners in the first 25 races; it was obvious it would take a win to make the Chase.  Dillon has always ran well at the super speedways; and he needed a win in the regular season's final race at Daytona to make the play-offs.  He managed to get the win; passing Austin Cindric with three laps to go.  In the play-offs he finished 17th and 14th the first two races; but received major damage at Bristol and finished 31st, eliminating him from the play-offs.  He finished 11th in the season's points standings.  For the year the duo paired together to get a win; five top five and eleven top ten finishes.  Alexander will not return to lead Dillon in 2023, citing a desire to focus more on his family and personal life.  The team is hoping to keep Alexander involved in a different role.  For his career, Alexander lead Dillon to four wins.  Two of them Crown Jewel events; the Coke 600 (2017), and Daytona 500 (2018).  In nine years, the pair made 239 Cup starts; had four wins, 17 top five and 49 top ten results.  In the Xfinity Series, he called the shots for 29 starts for such drivers as Jimmie Johnson, Dillon, Sam Hornish, Michael McDowell and others.  In 2016 he won at Bristol with Dillon, and also in 2016 led Michael McDowell to the win at Elkhart Lake. He had 11 top five and 15 top ten finishes.
