JUSTIN  MYRL  ALLGAIER   -   5/6/1986 -

an American professional stock car racing driver.  Allgaier was born in Riverton, Illinois, and began his racing career at the age of five in quarter midgets, winning over one hundred races and five championships.  At the age of sixteen, he made his debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack, driving the #99 Hoosier Tire Midwest/Law Automotive Chevrolet for Ken Schrader.  From 2003-2005 Allgaier ran part time in the ARCA Series.  In 18 starts he posted seven Top 5 finishes.  In 2006, Allgaier made his first full-time run in ARCA Series.  He missed two races but still ended tenth in the points.  He got his first career win at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack, becoming the first Springfield area resident to win in the 72-year history of championship auto racing at the fairgrounds.  In 2007, he won his second career ARCA race at Salem and finished fourth

in points.  He also won two features in a midget car at Angell Park Speedway and placed 3rd in the Chili Bowl behind Tony Stewart and J. J. Yeley.  Allgaier returned for another full season in ARCA in 2008, driving for his family once again. He won six races, including the final three, and won the series championship by a slim margin.  He also returned to NASCAR, finishing 21st in a Truck race at Kentucky Speedway.  Later that year, Allgaier signed a contract with Roger Penske's #12 Nationwide team to run four races in the final part of the year.  Allgaier was then signed to drive the car full-time in 2009.  During the 2009 NAPA 200 in Montreal, Allgaier had the fastest car early in

the race & while running sixth, tried to make a pass on Canadian road ace Ron Fellows and Kyle Busch.  Instead, he caused a wreck that took both him and Fellows out of the race and damaged Busch's hopes of winning.  After this humiliating incident, Allgaier took some lessons at Fellows' road racing driving school to better his road course skills.  He won his first Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 20, 2010.  Allgaier was rumored to drive the Sprint Cup Series #12 Penske Racing Dodge in 2011; however, instead Allgaier moved to Turner

Motorsports for 2011, driving the #31 Chevrolet Impala full-time in the Xfinity Series for 2011.  In the inaugural STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway after passing Carl Edwards who  ran out of fuel on the last lap, Allgaier won the race.  In 2012, Allgaier returned to the renamed Turner Scott Motorsports; he used the lessons learned for Ron Fellows road racing school, he wheeled his #12 Verizon car past road racing ace Jacques Villeneuve on the final lap to win the NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec.  In August 2013, it was announced that Allgaier would make his NASCAR Cup Series debut the following month at Chicagoland Speedway, driving there and in two other races in Phoenix Racing's #51 Chevy,  newly purchased by Turner Scott co-owner Harry Scott Jr.  In 2014 Allgaier drove full time in the NASCAR Cup Series

for owner Harry Scott wheeling the #51 Chevy SS.  At Talladega, Allgaier nearly won his first Cup series victory in the Aaron's 499, running in the top five and contending victory with 9 laps to go.  He lost drafting help from Kurt Busch and as a result, lost multiple spots, finishing 27th.  Justin had a season best finish of 15th (twice) coming at Charlotte and Homestead.  The rookie showed a lot improvement between the time the season started and when it ended. Allgaier returned to drive the #51 again in 2016 for Scott.  He finished 12th at California, followed shortly by an eighth at Bristol.  For the season he had eight finishes inside the Top 20.  In 2016, Allgaier returned

to the NASCAR Xfinity Series to drive the #7 Brandt sponsored Chevrolet for JR Motorsports.  Allgaier started his season on a good note. While his teammate Chase Elliott won the season-opening PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona, Allgaier finished 12th. Allgaier picked up 2 Top 10s in the next 2 races at Atlanta and Las Vegas.  Daytona was his worst finish through the first seven races as all the others had him finishing inside the Top 10.  After a crash and 35th

place finish at Richmond; Allgaier had six of the next seven races again in the Top 10. He finished second at Talladega, and again at Daytona in the summer. For the season he posted no wins; but had 13 Top 5's and 27 Top 10's in 33 starts.  He finished third in the points.  2017 saw more of the same as he stayed with JR Motorsports. He claimed two wins (Phoenix & Chicago).  His wins qualified him for the Chase.  Three of JR Motorsports four cars made the final event to race for the Championship.  William Byron would claim the Championship; while Justin's other team mate Elliott Sadler would finish second in points; and Allgaier would again be third.  Byron moved up to the Cup Series in 2018 while Sadler and Allgaier remain driving for JR Motorsports.  JRM added Tyler Reddick to their stable when Byron moved up to Cup.  Allgaier's 2018 would be a successful one.  He posted five wins including two

on road courses.  He qualified for the Chase but was eliminated just before the final race; after a 24th place finish at Phoenix left him a few points short of advancing.  He would end the season seventh in the points.  He would remain at JRM for 2019 along with team mates Tyler Reddick, Noah Gragson, and Michael Annett.  Allgaier had several good runs but a combination of pit miscues, driver error and mechanical failure kept him out of victory lane.  He did manage to advance to the Chase and pointed his way forward through the first two rounds.  He finally broke through to get a win at the final race of round three and advance to the championship race at Homestead. He had a good run and was up front some of that race; but as the track changed when it got dark his car lost speed and he

ended up 14th.  Finishing fourth in points for the 2019 season.  In 2020, Allgaier was back with JRM to again try and claim his first Xfinity Championship.  Allgaier's season started on a down note with a crash at the season opening race at Daytona.  He ran up front after that and posted ten tops in the next 18 races.  In several events he got wrecked while racing for the lead.  Finally, he broke ended up 14th. Finally, he broke 2021 saw Allgaier get off to a slow start; finishing no better than 26th the first three races.

He broke through and won at Atlanta.  With about 50 laps to go he took command and led 47 of those laps to beat Martin Truex by just over a second.  He won again at Darlington in much the same fashion.  He didn’t lead a lap until 11 laps to go and beat newcomer Josh Berry by half of a second.  From the 14th race of the season, until years end, he only had two finishes worse than ninth (11th and 12th).  Even with a fifth place finish at Martinsville; he failed to make the final four to run for the Xfinity Championship.  For his career Allgaier has 16 wins in the Xfinity Series in 12 seasons.  He was back with JR Motorsports again in 2022.  Justin was on a mission in 2022; looking for the Xfinity Championship.  He started strong with top ten finishes inthe first four

races.  The next several events saw him involved in a wreck or have mechanical issues.  But; at Dover in the tenth race of the season; he was just edged out for the win by team-mate Josh Berry.  The following race was at the tricky old Darlington track and Allgaier managed to hold off a fast-closing Noah Gragson to get the years first win.  The next ten races he was on a roll.  He had a worst finish of 12th; the other nine races were no worse than seventh; and he added two more wins (Nashville ; Loudon).  For the rest of the season only a crash would blot his finishing record.  The last ten races of the season he had only two finishes outside the top ten.  Of course, his wins vaulted him into the Chase for the Xfinity Championship; and his string of good finishes kept

advancing him forward round after round.  At the seasonfinale' at Phoenix he had two JR Motorsports team-mates with him in the final four as Noah Gragson and Josh Berry had also advance to the championship round.  But it was Ty Gibbs who led the most laps and walked away with the crown. Justin also made two Cup starts in 2022.  The first came at Bristol on the dirt.  He fell out after a crash and finished 36th. His other start came at Talladega.  He got in a minor dustup and got some body damage and ruined the aero on his car.  He finished two laps down in 30th.  Allgaier was back with

JRM in 2023; seeking that elusive Xfinity championship. Allgaier had a good season kicking off the season with a third place finish at Daytona; He followed that with another third at Fontana, and a second at Las Vegas.  He broke through and got his first win at Charlotte leading 83 of 200 laps.  He would go to victory lane again at Daytona in August; and three weeks later he’d win at Texas.  His wins advanced him into the Chase and he ran well, and advance to each round.  He won at Martinsville to lock himself into the Championship race at Phoenix.  He qualified eighth; but on lap four; when trying to pass on the inside he spun himself out bringing out the yellow.  When the green flew again he was at the back of the pack with a lot of work to do.  But he blasted through the field and was in seventh place when

the first stage ended on lap 45.  He ran well in stage two and after passing so many cars so easily in the first stage; looked like he had the car to beat.  The final 100 laps were led mostly by John Hunter Nemechek; Cole Custer and Sheldon Creed; with Allgaier following close behind.  Daniel Hemric grabbed the lead on a strategy call during a yellow with 20 laps remaining.  But when the green flew, Custer drove by and took the lead for the final 14 laps.  Creed came in second and Allgaier finished third.  He’ll be back with JRM again in 2024. So far, in his career he has made 438 starts in the Xfinity series and has 23 wins, and 143 top five finishes.  He is a versatile driver on all types of tracks; getting several wins at short tracks (Bristol; Iowa; Richmond); and road courses (Montreal; Mid-Ohio; Elkhart Lake); along the other NASCAR circuits.  He ran two full seasons in the Cup series 2014-2015 and posted one top ten finish (8th; Bristol) before dropping back to run the Xfinity series ever since. He has made a few starts in the Truck series, driving for Mike Mittler from 2005-2008.  Some info from Wikipedia
