CHASE  DAVID  WAYNE  BRISCOE   -   12/15/1994

An American Stock car driver who interestingly enough has a fairly short racing resume'.  Briscoe's father Kevin and grandfather Richard are both involved in sprint car racing. Kevin, being a former Truck Series driver and a five-time track champion at Tri-State Speedway and Bloomington Speedway, while Richard has worked as a car owner for drivers like Rich Vogler and Dave Blaney.  He met and became friends with fellow driver Christopher Bell on iRacing.  Briscoe started racing in 2001 when he competed in a few quarter midgets winning various heat and feature races.  Five years later, he returned to racing, driving 410 sprint cars at the age of 13.  That year, he recorded 17 top-ten finishes and a win at the final race of the season; he became the youngest driver to win a 410 sprint car race, beating NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon's record by one year.  In 2015, Briscoe was contacted by friend and fellow driver Christopher

Bell regarding a contract with Roush Fenway Racing, which resulted in a test session with ARCA Racing Series team Cunningham Motorsports.  After two tests at Mobile International Speedway and Fairgrounds Speedway, he made his ARCA debut at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, finishing tenth.  He later ran at Salem Speedway, where he finished fifth.  In 2016 he ran full time in the ARCA driving the #77 Cunningham Motorsports car.  He posted a fourth place finish at the season opener at Daytona.  He had only one run outside the Top 10 in the season first nine races; before he reeled of an amazing four consecutive wins.  He would add two more wins before the season ended and claim the ARCA Championship.  In 2017, Briscoe joined the newly formed Ford Performance NASCAR Driver Development Program and the Camping World Truck Series

team Brad Keselowski Racing, driving the #29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 full time.  Briscoe finished third at Daytona in his Truck Series debut by avoiding a tremendous wreck on the final lap after running top ten almost all day. Briscoe earned his first-career Truck Series pole award at Dover International Speedway. Brisco had several occasions where he almost claimed his first win.  He finished second at Texas, and again the following race at Gateway International Speedway.  At Chicago he had still another runner up result before breaking through to claim his first win at the season ending Homestead race.  In it, he won the pole and led 81 of the 134 laps.  At the end of 2017 Brad Keselowski Racing closed it's doors.  Keselowski drives for Roger Penske in the Cup series; and Penske agreed to provide a car for Cindric and Briscoe to share in the Xfinity Series in 2018.  Brisco ended up splitting a ride with Cindric driving for Jack Roush in 2018.  Brisco had a pretty good

season.  In his 17 starts he posted one win;  It came at the Roval at Charlotte.  He also had four Top 10 finishes.  Due to only starting 17 of the season's 33 races he ended up 24th in points.  Roush Racing shut down it's Xfinity Series at the end of 2018; for the second year in a row he had to look for a ride the upcoming year.  For 2019 Briscoe was hired to drive the #98 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford in the Xfinity series full time.  He grabbed his first career Xfinity win at Iowa Speedway beating out Christopher Bell. Bell had a great car, leading 234 of 250 laps; but Brisco bypassed him with just seven laps to go to grab the win.  This win advanced him into the Chase and he advanced to round three before a bad race at Texas knocked him out of

a shot at the Championship. He finished the season fifth in points.  He managed to post 13 Top 5 and 26 Top 10 finishes in 33 events.  Briscoe was back with SHR in 2020.  Briscoe predicted before the season started he would need to win eight races to get to move up to the Cup Series in 2021.  He set out early to get to that mark. He finished fifth at Daytona; but grabbed his first win at the seasons second race at Las Vegas.  He won again at Darlington.  Starting at Homestead; he won three of the next four races.  He and Austin Cindric were the class of the Xfinity series in 2020.  The duo won 15 of the series 33 races.  Briscoe won two races during the Chase; and the final race looked to be a shootout between Cindric, Briscoe and Justin Allgaier.  During that race Briscoe won the first stage; while Cindric won the second.  Briscoe spun with two laps to go knocking him out of contention.  Cindric

ended up winning to claim the Championship while Briscoe ended up fourth in the points.  Briscoe ended the season with nine wins; he had 16 top five and 22 top ten finishes.  He moved up to the Cup series in 2021 to wheel the #14 vacated by Clint Bowyer at Stewart-Haas Racing.  In his first season in the Cup Series, Briscoe found rough sledding.  He didn’t post his first Top 10 finish until the 14th race (COTA).  He also posted Top 10’s at Watkins Glen and Elkhart Lake; all road courses.  It was his only Top 10s of the season.  He was part of the Stewart-Haas team who seemed to struggle all year; and would be back in 2022.  Briscoe started off the season with a good run and a third place finish at Daytona.  He followed that up with a 16th at Fontana; but got involved in a wreck and crashed

out at Las Vegas.  The following week when the series went to Phoenix; the team showed a lot of strength.  He ran up front with Cup stars Ryan Blaney; Chase Elliott; Kyle Larson and Joey Logano all day.  He finished second at the end of stage one and was in the top ten at the end of stage two. He had the best car at the end of the race as he led 82 of the final 83 laps, beating Ross Chastain to get his first career Cup win and lock himself into the Chase.  The win made him the 200th different driver in series history to have won a race in the Cup Series.  The team didn't show a lot of strength; as he run mid-pack all up until the playoffs started.  Many finishes in the teens and low 20's seemed to be the norm.  When the play-offs started they

had a poor finish of 27th at Darlington.  But finishes of 13th and 14th advanced him to the next round.  He had a strong second round as he finished fifth at Texas; tenth at Talladega and ninth at the Roval at Charlotte.  Round three started off well as he finished fourth at Las Vegas.  But a crash at Homestead-Miami left him with a 36th place finish; and so far behind he was in a must-win situation as the series went to Martinsville.  He ran well the first stage finishing fourth in it.  He had issues and got a lap down; but got the free pass on lap 280.  The race saw cars having a lot of difficulty pass and he had to battle hard to try and get to the front.  A yellow on lap 394 saw everyone come in for tires.  A late race yellow with about 30 laps to go, again

brought the field in; and Briscoe knew he had to stay out on his old tires, and hope for the best during the closing laps.  He managed to hang on to the lead until five laps to go when Christopher Bell, who had four new tires; and was also in a win-to-advance situation, moved Briscoe to the high lane.  After that there was a parade of cars on new tires, and once Bell moved him in the high lane; a multitude of cars passed him over the final five laps.  He ended up finishing ninth.  Bell made the cut to the Championship four; while Briscoe missed out.  Still he had shown what he team at Stewart-Haas Racing was capable of; and they were the best team in the organizations four car stable.  Briscoe also made one start in the Xfinity

Series; in the under-funded #07 owned by Bobby Dotter; that coming on the road course at Indianapolis.  Briscoe gave the car a good ride as he started sixth.  They spent the first half of the race working on the set-up as Briscoe gave them changes to make so the car would be more competitive.  In the final stage Briscoe began moving through the field and by the time the checkers flew he had worked his way up into fifth place.  Briscoe was again with

SHR in 2023. His performance wasn’t as good as the previous season; as SHR as a whole continued to struggle.  He had only four top five finishes; fifths at Bristol on the dirt; and Martinsville; and fourths at Talladega and the fall Martinsville race.  He had eight top tens.  He missed the Chase and finished outside the top 20 in points.  He made one start in the Truck series; driving the #22 owned by Kevin Cywinski on the dirt at Bristol.  He started tenth and brought him the Ford in seventh place.  He’ll be back with SHR again in 2024; and at the young age of 29 will be the driver with the most Cup experience leading the team.  Kevin Harvick retired at the end of 2023; as did Aric Almirola.  Harvick will be replaced by Josh Berry, with no word at this moment as to who will fill Almirola’s seat.  Ryan Preece is also on the SHR roster.  With SHR’s two most senior drivers leaving; it remains to been scene how this young group will progress.  Some info from Wikipedia.
