CORBIN  SPEEDWAY   -   CORBIN  KY

Not a lot of info can be found about early Corbin Speedway.  It was a 1/2 mile dirt oval in Kentucky that hosted a 200 lap race.  A part time Cup driver named Bub King was largely responsible for getting NASCAR to come race at the facility. Herchel McGriff and Lee Petty took off and left the field; leaving the two of them to battle for the win.  Petty passed McGriff on the final lap to claim the win and the $1,000 pay check.  Buck Baker finished third, two laps in arrears.  Bub King fell out with a broken shock and finished 18th earning $25.  Corbin Speedway is still in existence and runs weekly racing.
