CHRISTIAN  DONALD  ECKES   -   11/10/2000

grew up in Middletown, New York. He began racing Legends Cars at thirteen years old.  He later moved up to racing late model stock cars and super late models.  In 2015, Eckes began racing late models for JR Motorsports, as well as super late models for LFR Chassis as one of their driver development program drivers.  In April 2016, Eckes made his ARCA Racing Series debut at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in Tennessee, driving for Venturini Motorsports.  He finished eighth, the only top-ten in four ARCA races that year.  Eckes also made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at Dominion Raceway.  He won three races in a row to end the season, one at Myrtle Beach Speedway, at Southern National Motorsports Park and the Snowball Derby, at Five Flags Speedway. In December 2016, Eckes and Venturini announced ten ARCA races in 2017.  He posted two runner up finishes; four Top 5s and nine Top 10s. In July 2017, Eckes and Venturini re-signed for an enlarged ARCA schedule in 2018 that included fifteen races.  He triumphed for the first time at Salem Speedway in April 2018.  Eckes kept fellow Venturini Motorsports driver Chandler Smith at bay over the closing portion of the race to secure the victory.  He followed up with wins at Illinois State Fairgrounds and Indianapolis Raceway Park during the year.  In the

week following the win, Eckes landed a deal with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team Kyle Busch Motorsports to drive the team's #46 entry in four races in the 2018; where he posted three Top Ten finishes.  On October 24, 2018, it was announced that Eckes would run the #15 full-time for Venturini Motorsports in 2019.  Despite missing the Salem Speedway race in April due to a esophageal tear in his trachea, he went on to win the 2019 ARCA Menards Series championship with four wins, 13 top fives, and 17 top tens in 19 starts.  During the 2019 racing season, he ran seven races in the Truck Series with KBM in the #51.  The following year, he joined the team's #18 for the full 2020 Truck season.  Eckes made the NASCAR playoffs but was eliminated after the first round.  During the season he finished second three times; he also had seven Top 5 and eleven Top 10 finishes and finished eighth in the points.  He was let go from KBM and drove part time for Mike Curb Racing; splitting seat time with Grant Enfinger.  He ran ten

races and unless he had an issue, he finished 13th or better.  He had his two Top 5 finishes, and five Top 10 results on the year.   He grabbed a win late in the season, going to victory lane at Las Vegas for his first career NASCAR win.  Enfinger won’t be driving the #98 in 2022 as he has signed to drive with GMS Racing full time.  Eckes had hopes he would get the full time ride in the #98 truck, and things fell into place.  Eckes kicked off the season driving for ThorSports with a third place finish at Daytona.  A crash left him with a 28th place finish at Las Vegas; Atlanta saw him finish 16th; and he had a good run at COTA finishing sixth.  Starting with the sixth race of the season; Eckes picked up his level of intensity.  He fished a strong fifth at Kansas; and followed that with a second at

Texas; a fourth at Charlotte and another second at Gateway.  All were races he could have won with a little luck.  He had a crash at Sonoma and finished 35th; but bounced back to finish 12th at Knoxville on the dirt.  The next nine races he only had one finish worse than tenth.  He advanced to the playoffs; but in the round of eight; even finishes of eighth; fifth; and seventh; wasn't enough to get him into the Championship four.  As the season closed at Phoenix; he had bad luck and finished three laps down in 30th place.  He ended the year eighth in points.  Although he had no wins; he did show an impressive eight top five and 15 top ten finishes.  After two races driving for Mike Curb and the ThorSport combination; Eckes went to drive the #19 for Bill McAnnally.  Christian started off the season well when he finished third at Daytona.  He added a

sixth the next race at Las Vegas; and went to victory lane at Atlanta in the third event.  This locked him into the Chase.  The next five races saw him have some struggles.  He had suspension issues at COTA; and crashed out at Bristol and Kansas. All three races he finished 30th.  The other two races he completed all the laps, but finished 15th both times.  He was back in the winners circle at Darlington when he led 82 of 158 laps.  He ran well during the playoffs; even winning at Kansas.  In the Round of 8 he finished second at Bristol, but struggled the next two events finishing 19th at Talladega and 20th at Homestead.  This knocked him out of the hunt for the Championship; which was unfortunate.  At Phoenix as the season closed out; he would lead 36 laps and go on to claim his fourth win of the season.  Ben Rhodes finished fifth; but would be the Truck series Champion.  Eckes is expected to be at the controls of the #19 Bill McAnally owned Chevy again in 2024.
