GRANT  ARTHUR  ENFINGER   -   01/22/1985

An American born driver born in Fairhope, Alabama. He grew up competing on the short tracks of the south eastern United States. Enfinger began competing in the ARCA Racing Series in 2008. He ran four races that first season and continued racing in the series on a limited basis during the next two seasons. In 2010, Enfinger made his first career start in the NASCAR Truck Series, finishing 22nd. In 2011 and 2012 he made five total starts in the Truck Series with a best finish of twelth on three occasions. Moving to Allgaier Motorsports for 2011, Enfinger competed in his first full season in the ARCA Racing Series. He finished fourth in the series standings. Enfinger again raced part time in 2012 before what would be a breakout season, he would make 9 starts for TEAM BCR in 2013, collecting his first ARCA Racing Series win at his home track of Mobile Speedway and following that with a win at Iowa later in the season. 2014 would start off in record fashion, with Enfinger winning the first 3 races of the season (Daytona, Mobile and Salem). He would follow that up with a win at Elko for his 4th win of the season. In spite of his six wins, Enfinger would finish second in points to Mason Mitchell after an engine failure and a crash in the  final two races respectively. Enfinger won the season-opening race at Daytona

again in 2015. After winning five additional races, he won his first ARCA championship at the end of the season. Enfinger returned to the Truck Series in 2016, driving the #33 Chevrolet Silverado full-time for GMS Racing. He got caught up in "the big one" at Daytona while running towards the front with six laps to go. Despite a Top 5 finish the following race at Atlanta he was still demoted to a part-time role with the #24, and replaced by Kaz Grala and Ben Kennedy in the #33. Enfinger ran 5 races later in the

season for Gallagher's #24 team. For the running of the Fred's 250 at Talladega, Enfinger would start 2nd and would run great all race long, leading the most laps and getting his first career Truck win. Enfinger ran full Time in the Truck Series starting in 2017 driving for owner Mike Curb. He didn't post a win; but did have nine Top 5 finishes, but only managed an 11th place finish in the points.  2018 saw Grant get his second Truck win and

post seven Top 5 finishes.  He fell just short of qualifying for the final four to run for the Chase Championship and ended up fifth in points.  Enfinger has a good 2019 season.  He kicked off the year with a worst finish of 11th during the first 11 races.  He had six finishes inside the top four.   He made the Chase and as Bristol kicked off round one he finished fifth. The following week he finished 13th and at Las Vegas he just needed a good finish to advance to round two.  Enfinger was driving a ThorSport team truck and oddly enough all three teams trucks suffered motor problems.  First, Enfinger blew up on lap six.  Shortly after that Johnny Sauter started smoking and Matt Crafton reported issues.  Crafton blew up on lap 39, and finally Sauter's engine gave out on lap 45.   Only the ThorSports #99 driven by Ben Rhodes was able to avoid motor issues.  Thus Enfinger and Sauter was eliminated from title

contention.  Crafton was barely able to advance to the third round.  Enfinger finished the final four races with strong runs; with 10th being the worst finish and he posted two Top 5's.  For the season he finished seventh in points while posting ten Top 5 and 18 Top 10's in 23 races.  All four drivers were back behind the wheel of a ThorSports truck in 2020.  Enfinger started off the season win at win at Daytona.  He followed it three weeks later with a win at Atlanta.  He then won the final race of the regular season at Richmond.  At Texas he blew a motor and that left him in a big hole.  He was in a position to where he had to win to advance to the Championship race.  He, Matt Crafton, Zane Smith run in the top three all day and all needed to win to advance.  Enfinger led 49 laps, but had to pass Ben Rhodes with two laps to go to grab the win.  In the

seasons final race, Enfinger was leading with just two laps to go when the yellow flag flew.  Enfinger stayed out; and all the rest of the lead lap trucks pitted.  That left him a sitting duck when the green flew, and he rapidly was bypassed by many trucks, eventually finishing 13th.  For 2021, Enfinger was back behind the wheel of the Mike Curb's #98; but only part time.  The rest of the time he drove the #9 truck owned by Codie Rohrbaugh.  Enfinger had an unfortunate 2021 as the season kicked off.  He didn’t have a ride for the second race of the season; so that automatically knocked him out of contention to have a shot at winning the Championship.  Right after that race he picked up a ride for the rest of the season, and if he would have got to race in the second race; he would have been

eligible to make the playoffs.  He posted great finishes all season with only two finishes outside the top 11 in the first 15 events.  He would have easily made the playoffs based on points.  For the year, he had six Top 5 finishes; and 11 Top 10’s.  In 2021 ThorSport Racing split seat time between Enfinger and Christian Eckes’ but in 2022 Enfinger will drive full time for GMS.   Also in 2021 Enfinger made his first career Xfinity start when he filled in for Brandon Gdovic.  It came at Charlotte driving for Sam Hunt Racing.  He started 35th and tangled with Chad Finchum on lap 26 and was out of the race.  Enfinger began the 2022 season with a 29th place finish at Daytona.  He ran well and was competitive; but he was swept up in a massive 17 truck

crash on the front stretch on lap 99.  He finished 23rd at Vegas; before he went on a string of eight races where he had no finish worse than 12th.  He almost pulled off the win at Charlotte as he finished second behind Ross Chastain.  He made the Championship playoffs, and he got a win at the 5/8 mile asphalt of Indianapolis Raceway Park that advanced him into the next round.  He was eliminated from the Chase just before the final four.  As the season closed, he finished sixth at Phoenix and seventh in the season points.  For the season he had one win; seven top five and 12 top ten finishes.  Enfinger had a good season wheeling the Trucks in 2023.  His worst finish came in the

third race of the season when he finished 19th at Atlanta.  He got his first win when the trucks went to Kansas.  He led 65 of 134 laps, beating Corey Heim by four seconds.  His next win came at St Louis when he again led 65 laps in the 162 lap event; as he held of Christain Eckes.  When the play offs started he was 12th at IRP; but won the next race at Milwaukee vaulting himself into the round of 8.  In that round, he finished third at Bristol and fourth at Homestead, easily putting himself into the Championship race.  At Phoenix he qualified poorly in a race that was scheduled for 150 laps.  But chaos as the race wound down, saw the yellow fly six times beginning at lap 121, and extend the race to 179 laps.  Corey Heim was the only play off contender who ever led any laps, and on lap 121 Carson

Hocevar was battling him for the lead.  Hocevar’s truck pushed up and got into Heim who spun.  Hocevar also spun, giving Zane Smith the lead.  As the final laps came’ Heim got his revenge on Hocevar who intentionally run him into the wall; bringing out the yellow as the race was about to conclude.  Smith had driven out to a healthy lead and was about to win.  All this chaos eliminated Heim and Hocevar from Championship contention and left it between Enfinger and Ben Rhodes.  When the checkered flag flew, Rhodes was running fifth while Enfinger was close behind in sixth; leaving Grant as the runner up for the truck

Championship.  It was a good run for a team that is closing down at the end of 2023.  It would have been nice to see them go out on a winning note.  GMS had announced earlier that they would be closing down, since Maury Gallagher had merged with Legacy Motorsports in the Cup series.  It is not known who Enfinger will drive for at this time.  Enfinger also would make his first ever Cup start at Sonoma.  He was one of several drivers who would fill in for Noah Gragson in the #42 after he was suspended for the season.  Enfinger started 35th; finished on the lead lap and finished 26th.  Some info from Wikipedia.
