FORT  MIAMI  SPEEDWAY   -   TOLEDO  OH

A one mile dirt oval on the Lucas County/Fort Miami Fairgrounds in Toledo, Ohio; originally built as a horse race track.  It was first used for auto racing only once in 1902. By 1918 Motor racing had returned and on a regular basis, In 1936 a quarter mile track was added and shared between Dog racing and Speedway.  In 1941 a further 1/2 mile track was added with various forms of racing held on all the tracks up until the outbreak of World War II.  After World War II and the lifting of the motorsports ban, Stock Car racing would become very popular on the 1/2 mile oval and open wheel cars on the two smaller tracks.  NASCAR would race there in 1951 and 1952 on the 1/2 mile oval.

Tim Flock beat Dell Pearson and Oda Greene in the 200 lap affair.  Flock also won the other race at the track in 1952.  Dick Rathman finished second on the lead lap.  Lee Petty finished third six laps back.  Racing continued through until 1957, when the fairgrounds were demolished to make way for the Lucas County Recreation Center.
