With new teams, 23XI, and Track House Motorsports already announcing their entry into the series; Live Fast Motorsports threw their hat into the ring for 2020.  They become the third new team to go Cup racing in 2021 and they will have a Charter to compete in all of the races.  The team came about when Archie St Hilaire decided cut back on his Cup racing.  He had Joe Falk had been partners that formed GoFas Racing.  St Hilaire sold

his half of the team to B.J. McLeod and Matt Tifft and they teamed with Falk to form the new team.  The team will have a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing.  McLeod drove the full season in the Xfinity Series in 2020 and 16 Cup events.  Tifft is a past NASCAR driver; racing full time in the Xfinity Series in 2018 and 2018, before moving up to race full time in the Cup Series in 2019.  That season he ran the season first 32 races for Bob Jenkins and Front Row Motorsports.  Before the race at Martinsville he had a seizure and passed out and was rushed to the hospital.  As a result he missed the rest of the season.  He announced he would not be racing in 2020 to focus on his

health.  Tifft made a statement after he and McLeod bought into NASCAR ownership that he decided to move to team ownership was because of the uncertainty over continuing his racing career due to his health issues, and his desire to continue his involvement in the sport.  The car will carry the #78; the same number McLeod has used in previous Cup races.  It was not known if McLeod planed to run all of the Cup races in 2020 or some other driver will run some of them.  The team did announce that they got into NASCAR this season to get their feet wet and learn the ropes and don't have any expectations of running well.

They did however want to get in now so they could be ready when the new NextGen car comes out in 2022.  In 2022, McLeod drove 29 of the 36 Cup races; and posted a team's career best finish of seventh at Daytona.  In their Xfinity series program, they fielded two cars.  Josh Williams would make 18 starts as would Matt Mills.  Neither driver was able to have a top ten finish.  Ryan Preece did race the #5 Chevy on three occasions.  He led ten laps at Charlotte and brought the car home in fifth place.  His next race he finished sixth at Nashville.  His other start he completed all 250 laps but finished 16th.  On December 1, 2022, the team announced that it would be switching from Ford to Chevrolet for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.  McLeod started the season with a 30th place finish at the 2023 Daytona 500.  McLeod made 23 starts on the year, with his best finish coming at Talladega when he finished

18th.  Josh Bilicki drove the car to a 26th place finish at COTA as he would make ten starts.  His best finish was on the street course at Chicago where he finished 23rd.  Anthony Alfredo drove the car at Richmond and Martinsville, but both finishes would be outside the top 30.  On July 12, it was announced that Sheldon Creed would drive the #78 at Kansas, where he finished 29th.  In the Xfinity series, Alfredo drove the entire 33 race season.  He would have a best finish of eighth on two occasions; coming at Daytona and Martinsville.  In September of 2023, Live Fast Motorsports sold its charter to Spire Motorsports for $40 million ceasing full time operations.  LFM will continue to operate as a part-time open team in 2024.  It was announced on November that Matt Tifft

would step away from the team to pursue other opportunities.  The owners made a nice move getting involved and purchasing a Charter early.  It is believed they purchased their Charter for around $2 million. They used it just a hand full of years and sold it for $40 million.
