MONROE  SPEEDWAY   -   MONROE  MI

Monroe hosted one NASCAR Cup race.  The Cup drivers ran 200 laps around the 1/2 mile dirt oval in July of 1952.  15 cars started the race, but only nine were running when Tim Flock took the checkered flag.  Herb Thomas would push Flock to keep up the pace; finishing second on the lead lap. The top five was made up of Lee Petty, Fonty Flock, and Ray Guhigg
