CHRIS OUR - 5/31/1961 -
As far back as as he can remember, Chris Our has always been fascinated by motor sports.  Long before he was old enough to drive a car, Chris and his brother John would race dune buggies along the beaches of Cape Cod in Massachusetts.  Our currently operates a concrete and construction company.  Now racing's more than a hobby — it’s a serious business.  Based in North Carolina, what the team lacks in size they more than make up for with heart.  Our owned a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour team from 2012 to 2015.  Seven-time Whelen Modified Tour champion Mike Stefanik, 2008 Whelen Modified Tour champion Ted Christopher, Keith Rocco and Tommy Barrett all drove for Our during his short tenure with the series. Stefanik had two wins for the team in 2013 and Barrett had one series win for Our in 2014.  In 2016 longtime Modified racing veteran Andy

Seuss and former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour team owner Chris Our teamed up to develop a part-time ARCA Menards Series program together.  They made their debut in the ARCA Racing Series at Daytona with Barrett Jr. driving the #7 car, but he did not end up qualifying for the race.  In 2016, they returned to ARCA at Talladega with the #02 Chevrolet driven by defending NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Andy Seuss.  The team had a great qualifying run, starting 10th, but encountered a failure in the brake system and finished 31st.  They did not run any other races until Daytona in 2017, where Seuss

returned to drive the #02 and finished 20th.  They returned to Talladega a few months later and impressively, Seuss came from a 33rd-place starting position to finish 2nd in the race.  They had run a hand full of races in the ARCA Series racking up several Top 10 finishes from 2016-2020.  In 2020 they made the move up to NASCAR and fielded a car for driver Brett Moffitt. When ask "Why now" for the move up to NASCAR; Our responded "You know, a lot of it is the payouts and the way the financial mechanism works.  We have the ARCA series but there’s an expense

there as far as the engines,” Our said.  “It’s a lot of the same components as the Xfinity Series, but (ARCA) really doesn’t pay out much.  So it’s a big difference.  I know there’s more tire bills, but the people don’t recognize the ARCA series like they do the Xfinity, so it’s definitely easier to bring better sponsors to you to help.  That’s kind of one of the reasons we stepped up … there was no particular reason we started this year (2020).  It would just seem like it all worked.  It’s worked in part due to aid from GMS Racing.  Our bought five of his six cars after GMS shut down its Xfinity operation at the end of 2019.  “With GMS getting out of it, we started talking with them about some of the chassis and cars and it just seemed like it would

work, right?  We had a lot of the equipment (from the ARCA Series).  We had the haulers, we had all the tools.  We had all that, it was just the actual chassis and motors that changed.”  One of the most important pieces of the Our Motorsports was who would drive #02.  That experienced arrived in the form of Brett Moffitt, the GMS Racing driver who won the 2018 Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series championship.  Moffitt said. “It’s a lot of fun because we’re beating guys that we should not be beating and it’s motivation all race long to do that.  “Eleventh place (at Darlington) doesn’t sound like a ton, but if you look at it on paper what Our Motorsports has versus what Joe Gibbs has and we beat two of their cars.  It’s a pretty damn good day.  Chris Our hopes his young team can be a fixture “on top of that second tier” of teams.  Using equipment from GMS – which finished 13th in the owner standings in 2019 – gives Our a goal of 13th or 14th.  “Short terms goals is to

be competitive.  Make no mistakes and kind of blend in.  If you can blend in with teams like JR Motorsports and (Joe Gibbs Racing) in the Xfinity Series, we’ll do great.  The long term goal is to build on that.  You want to make your heroes your competition.  That’s our goal.  I don’t think that’s anything that’s too big or unattainable.  Moffitt ran 29 of the 33 races and the little team got better as the season progressed.  He had one Top 5, seven Top 10 and 14 Top 15 finishes.  Not bad for a team in it's first season. In November, Our Motorsports announced that they would be racing full time in 2021 in the Xfinity Series with Moffitt at the controls.  They later announced they would be  racing two full time cars in the Xfinity Series.  When the

season started, Brett Moffitt drove full time for OurMotorsports in both the Truck series and the Xfinity Series.  He started out the season going for the Truck Series Championship.  But he had such a good start in the Xfinity Series, they decided to run for the Xfinity Championship.  In his 31 starts, he had one Top 5 and ten Top 10 finishes. Most of his finishes came in the Top 15.  He had 17 Top 10 finishes.  Our Motorsports also fielded the #23 car that had several different drivers drive it.  Tyler Reddick had three starts, Austin Dillon and Andy Lally made two starts and each had a Top 10.  Ty Dillon also posted two Top 10’s.  Those fives were the only Top 10’s

the organization posted.  Natalie Decker and Tanner Berryhill also made a few starts, and three others drove.  Chris Our is a team owner much like Al Niece; only Our started off racing the Xfinity series instead of the truck Series.  Our had three full time drivers in 2022: Anthony Alfredo, Jeb Burton and Brett Moffitt.  Due to the extremely high talent and amount of strong teams in the Xfinity series; it was very tough for a small owner like Our to be competitive and run for wins.  Alfredo got the only top five for Our when he finished fifth at Fontana.  He had four top

tens.  Moffitt also had four top tens on the season.  Burtons best finish for the year was 11th at Richmond and Martinsville.  For 2023 plans are to have Alfredo back.  Moffitt is leaving to go to drive for AM Racing; and Burton is also going elsewhere.  In 2022, Our run a fourth truck part time; driven mostly by Blaine Perkins and Parker Retzlaff.  2023 saw Blaine Perkins drive Our’s machine in 25 events.  He had a rough go as he could only muster a best finish of 13th.  Kyle Weatherman also made five starts, and had a best run of 14th at Dover.  It has been announced that Perkins will move to RSS Racing in 2024; and Anthony Alfredo will drive the #5 car.
