Princess Anne Speedway hosted Motorcycle, Stock Car and Midget racing during the 1950's, The tracks life was very short lived. NASCAR started racing their Modified series there in 1951, and run there through 1954. In 1953, NASCAR's short track division ran a 400 lap race. Jim Reed would beat Lee Petty and Jim Paschal to the line. The Cup cars also made their lone appearance there in 1953. Curtis Turner would start on the pole and lead the first 42 laps. Then he crashed out and Herb Thomas assumed the lead and held it until the end. Fonty Flock was second; followed by Lee Petty, Dick Rathman and Jim Paschal. NASCAR's Midget and Short Track divisions also raced here. Problems associated with the IRS would lead to the track 

closing, never to re-open. Janaf shopping center now stands where the track was located.
