RYAN  MATTHEW  TRUEX   -   03/18/1992

an American stock car driver - A native of Mayetta, New Jersey, Ryan Truex won the 2009 NASCAR Camping World East Series Championship while a 17-year-old high school student at Southern Regional High School.  He is the younger brother of NASCAR Cup Series driver; 2017 Cup Champion, and two-time Xfinity Series champion Martin Truex Jr., and the son of former Xfinity Series driver Martin Truex Sr.    Truex competed in six NASCAR Xfinity Series events, beginning at Gateway International Raceway on July 17, 2010 driving the #00 NAPA Toyota.  Truex was intended to run for Rookie of the Year in 2011 with MWR.  However, motocross stunt performer Travis Pastrana ran the #99 for seven races.  Truex's plan was then to skip ROTY and run 10 consecutive races in the Xfinity Series, then 20 races in 2012, though surgery forced

him out of the #99 at Texas and was replaced by David Reutimann and team owner Waltrip, who drove at the restrictor plate tracks. Waltrip and Ryan's brother Martin also split time in the ride. Due to a lack of sponsorship in the 00 team, Truex was released from Pastrana/Waltrip Racing after the STP 300. Truex returned to the Xfinity Series with Joe Gibbs Racing, running several races late in the 2011 season.  In 2012, he drove for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the season-opening DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway,  finishing 31st. He ran a limited

schedule for JGR, while he also drove for RAB Racing at Texas Motor Speedway in April.  On June 2, 2012, Truex got a career best finish of second at Dover International Speedway driving for JGR.  Racing shortly after an emergency appendectomy, he started the race first after winning his first career Xfinity Series pole, and led late before being caught in lapped traffic by Joey Logano.  In February 2013, Truex announced that he would compete in the Truck Series for Turner Scott Motorsports at Daytona International Speedway in the #30 Bass Pro Chevy; he hoped to compete in further races during the year, and registered to compete for the series' Rookie of the Year title.  In addition, he signed with Phoenix Racing and hoped to compete in further races during the year, and registered to compete for the series' Rookie of the Year

title.  In addition, he signed with Phoenix Racing to compete in the Cup Series, competing races at Richmond; as well as at run some Xfinity series races; his debut in the Sprint Cup Series and his Xfinity Series race were later delayed due to Truex suffering a broken collarbone.  On June 2, 2013, it was announced that Truex had signed with Richard Petty Motorsports as a development driver; in mid-July it was announced that he would make his Sprint Cup debut with Phoenix Racing in the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway driving James Finch's No. 51.  After Harry Scott, Jr.'s takeover of the No. 51 team two weeks later, Truex drove for Scott in his first race as team owner at Richmond International Raceway.  He drove for Scott again at his home track of Dover International Speedway,

finishing 32nd.  In January 2014, Truex drove for BK Racing during testing prior to the 2014 Daytona 500 in the No. 93.  He was later assigned to the team's #83 for the full season.  Truex also drove the #32 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet for Turner-Scott Motorsports in the season-opening Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway.  In August he suffered a sprained wrist and concussion in a practice crash at Michigan International Speedway; he was forced to sit out that weekend's race,

being replaced by JJ Yeley.  In September, Truex was replaced in the #83 car by Travis Kvapil in races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway; discussions about his position with the team for the remainder of the season were said to be "ongoing".  During the race weekend at Dover, Truex confirmed that he was no longer with BK Racing.  After receiving no rides in 2015, Truex was picked up by Biagi-DenBeste Racing to drive three races starting at Richmond in the Xfinity Series.  After not finding a ride in 2015; - in 2016, Truex returned to the Truck Series for the season opener at Daytona, driving the No. 81 for Hattori Racing Enterprises.  Truex ran in the top ten for a portion of the race, and was in the lead

on the last lap when he lost support from Parker Kligerman.  After finishing 2nd, he announced he was running Atlanta, Martinsville, Kansas and will hope to run the whole season. Unfortunately not, sponsorship has been an issue for the team, and was replaced by Jesse Little for Texas. As 2017 rolled around Truex ended up driving the #16 in the Truck Series for Shigeaki Hattori. He ran the whole season, and even though he didn't get a win; he did gather eight Top 5 finishes and 13 Top 10's. For 2018 Truex moved to the Xfinity series full time.  Driving the #11 Matthew Kaulig. He failed to get a win; but he did run competitive, finishing on the lead lap most of the races. His

team just couldn't quite get a handle on the car to make it competitive to run up front for the win. He only posted one Top 5 and he had eleven Top 10's.  He ended up twelveth in the 2018 points.  Truex went into 2019 without any sort of full time ride.  He did end up driving six races in the Xfinity series for JR Motorsports.  When he got a chance to sit in a car he gave it a great performance.  He started off with a second place finish at Phoenix; and followed that up with an eighth at Kentucky and seventh at New Hampshire.  He had a 14th at Las Vegas and posted a tenth on the Roval at Charlotte.  His only poor outing came at Kansas when he had engine failure and finished 38th.  In 2020, Ryan ran a part time Truck Series season racing in nine events.  All were for owner Al Niece.  He two finishes of 12th and two of 13th.  It is uncertain if he would run

races for Niece in 2021; but Niece had him back to run the full schedule  It was his first full time ride since 2018.  The season started off on a high note as he finished fourth in the opening race at Daytona.  But things didn't go so well after that.  Most of his finished came between tenth and 20th.  He didn't post another Top 10 until race 19 at Las Vegas.  He drove the #40 to two Top 5 finishes and three Top 10’s.  In 2022, Truex made a hand full of starts in the Xfinity series. ,The first was at Daytona driving for Sam Hunt Racing. ,He started 38th and worked his way up to finish 12th. ,The rest he drove or Joe Gibbs. ,In five starts

he finished inside the top seven three times. ,His best finish was third at Atlanta. Truex once again made a hand full of starts in the Xfinity series in 2023.  He drove for JGR trying to earn a full time ride for the 2024 season.  His first start came at Phoenix, where he almost pulled off the win, when he finished second behind Sammy Smith.  He made another good run at Atlanta when he finished third.  At Martinsville he started 14th and finished 12th.  When the series went to Talladega he had a good run, finishing the race on the lead lap, but in 17th.  He broke through at Dover and grabbed his first Xfinity win.  He led 124 of 200 laps and won both stages.  His brother Martin Truex would

go on to get the Cup series win two days later.  Becoming the fifth set of brothers to win on the same weekend.  He beat Josh Berry by almost five seconds.  His final start came at Darlington, where he was involved in an accident and finished 35th.  As of now, no driver has been announced for the driver of the car in 2024.  Some info from Wikipedia
