JOHN  EDWARD  "JEB"  BURTON   -   08/06/1992

an American professional stock car racing driver.  He is the son of Ward Burton and the nephew of Jeff Burton.  He competed for several seasons as a regular driver at South Boston Speedway, an American racing circuit that his family has historically been known for competing.  Burton started his professional racing career in the NASCAR-sanctioned Whelen All-American Series, in which drivers at local tracks compete for track championships as well as against drivers competing at other tracks for national titles shortly after his 16th birthday.  2009 season also saw Burton's best finish in the track's season-ending points standings, finishing 4th in the Limited Sportsman Series.  Burton moved up to the track's Late Model Series in 2010, finishing 11th in the final standings, in addition to winning the track's Late Model Rookie of the Year award; he also competed in Late Models during the 2011 racing season.  By

2011 Burton was considered to be a rising star in the world of stock car racing.  In July of that year, Burton made his debut in big-league, touring-series stock car competition, driving the #6 Toyota Camry for Eddie Sharp Racing in the ARCA Racing Series'.  After the 2011 season, Burton desired to move up to full-time competition in a national series.  In January 2012, it was announced that Burton would be competing for Hillman Racing wheeling the #27 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series during the 2012 racing season, sharing a ride in the #27 truck, a Chevrolet, with his father Ward.  Jeb had a season best finish of 8th at Charlotte; and four of his five races he posted Top 20 finishes.  In 2013 he drove full time in the

Truck series and won his first race wheeling the #4 Arrowhead sponsored machine.  It would come in the seventh race of the season at Texas and prior to that he had won three poles.  He also posted five Top 5 finishes and 11 Top 10's; and finished fifth in the points.  2014 only saw two Top 5's and seven Top 10;s and an eighth place result in points wheeling the ThorSports Toyota Tundra.  In January, ThorSport Racing and sponsor Estes Express Lines announced that they were unable to come up with an extension to continue and the team shut down the #4 truck, leaving Burton without a ride.  Later however, he was picked up by BK Racing to go Cup racing in 2015.  His first Cup start would be at Atlanta driving the #26 Maxim Fantasy Sports Toyota.  He made 28 starts with a best finish of 27th.  He failed to make the field eight times. There is certainly a large learning curve going from the

Xfinity Series to Cup series. Burton lost his Cup ride; but was picked up by Richard Petty Motorsports to drive the #43 Xfinity series car. In June, sponsor J. Steicher and Co. defaulted on their agreement with RPM, and the No. 43 team suspended operations. Burton did manage to find a ride in three more Xfinity races driving for Fred Biagi. All of the races Burton ran in the Xfinity Series this season looked good. It's a shame the sponsorship fell apart. Prior to that Burton ran 11 races driving Petty equipment and most races he finished between 10th and 19th. The other three races he drove for Biagi he posted finishes of 12th, 19th and 18th.  He was unable to find a full time ride in any series for 2017; but did get to make six starts in the Xfinity Series. He drove those races for JGL Racing and owner James Whitener in the #24 car.  He had much the same

results as the previous season.  In 2018 he raced part time in all three of NASCAR's top series. He made two Truck series starts with a best finish of 15th. In the Xfinity Series he made three starts and finished 12th twice. The Cup Series saw him take the green flag just once and had a 33rd place finish. 2019 saw mostly the same. He would make two starts for Niece Motorsports in the Truck series and finish ninth both times. In the Xfinity series he seemed to produce good results when he got the opportunity to race.  He wheeled a JR Motorsports Chevy on seven occasions; and posted six Top 10 finishes. His only finish outside of the Top 10 came because of a mechanical failure.  His other two starts in 2019 came in the Cup

Series where he drove for underfunded Rick Ware Racing and he was only able to post finished of 35th and 31st.  2020 saw Jeb run eleven events for JR Motorsports.  Burton ran surprisingly well in most of the races he ran for JRM.  He got caught up in a crash in three events, and had mechanical problems in two others.  But the six races he did not have issues he performed very well.  He finished in the top ten in all of them and almost won at Richmond finishing second.  Apparently, his performance was good enough to catch the eye of Matt Kaulig who owned Kaulig Racing.  One of his drivers (Ross Chastain) had been pegged to move up to the Cup Series in 2021 and Kaulig has put Burton in that car full time in 2021.  This was a very strong ride; and he had team mate Justin Haley and AJ Allmendinger to lean on.  Burton’s season started off well; with the first six races all finishing in the Top 10.

First Xfinity series win - 2021 Talladega

After a 25th and 11th place finish he got his first career Xfinity win at Talladega, when he happened to be leading when the rains came.  He didn’t make it out of the first round of the Chase and finished tenth in the points.  Jeb Burton was let go from Kaulig Racing at the end of the 2021 season.  His seat was filled by Landon Cassill.  Burton went to Our Motorsports to drive the State Water Heaters sponsored Chevy.  He best finish was an 11th at Martinsville just before the season ended.  The Xfinity Series had several top tier teams in 2022; and it was hard getting a top ten finish for a mid-level race team.  Most finishes were between 11th and 20th as he made 19 top 20 finishes.  Burton left Our Motorsports in at the end of 2022, and picked up a full time ride for Jordan Anderson Racing.

Burton kicked off the season with an eleventh place finish at Daytona.  He had four more finishes inside the top 15 the next seven races.  He broke through and got a win at Talladega, giving Jordan Anderson Racing it’s first ever win.  This put Burton into the Chase for the championship later in the year.  He posted four more top ten finishes during the regular season.  When the play-offs started he had suspension issues and finished 31st at Texas, and followed that with a 34th on the Roval. This eliminated him from the Chase.  He ended 12th in the season points. He will be back with Anderson’s team in 2024.  Some info from Wikipedia
