RAJAH  KIRBY  CARUTH   -  6/11/2002

Caruth was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to a father from St Vincent (an island county in the eastern Caribbean), but was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and Washington, D.C.  He graduated from the School Without Walls High School in 2020.  After which, he moved to Concord, North Carolina in June of that year.  Being the supportive father that he is, he noticed his son’s passion for racing at a young age.  “Ever since 5 or 6 he’s always had a fascination with things that moved,” said Roger Caruth.  When Caruth was 9, his dad gave him a 600-page NASCAR textbook.  He absorbed the information in the book page by page, becoming a student of the sport.  No one in the family was knowledgeable about NASCAR.  “I still don’t know probably a fraction to what he knows,” Roger Caruth said.  “He can tell you anything from sponsors, paid fees, tracks, you name it.”  It was only a matter of time, his father said, that his son would be behind the wheel of a race

car.  After attending his first race in 2014 at Richmond Raceway, he knew that he wanted to become a race car driver.  Rajah first got his love for racing after watching Disney Pixar's Cars as a kid.  When he was 12, his parents surprised him with a trip to the NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway in September.  In 2018, while juggling from school, basketball, track, and a summer job, Caruth and his family fundraised an iRacing sim, and once he turned 16 on June 11, he began racing virtually in the eNASCAR Ignite Series.  Rajah was able to catch the attention of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program, which resulted in him having a shot to race in a legends car at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2019 for the Bojangles'

Caruth won the 2024 Victoria's Voice Foundation 200, becoming the third Black driver to win in one of NASCAR's three national series, joining Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.  Caruth continued to post good runs early in the season.  He had another eighth place finish at Bristol, followed by a 15th at COTA, and a seventh at Martinsville.  All season long he only had two finishes of worse than 18th.  When the play-offs started he finished on the lead lap at Milwaukee, but way back in 18th.  He followed that with runs of third and seventh which saw him advance to the semi-final round.  There he placed fourth at Talladega, and then was eighth at Homestead, and if he had a solid run at Martinsville, it would give him a chance to run for the Championship.  But he had issues, and finished the race way back in 31st, eliminating him from the play-offs. F or the year he had one win, five Top 5, and 12 Top 10 finishes, and finish seventh in points.  It was by far his best season to that point. It is expected Rajah will be back at the controls of the #71 truck again in 2025.
