Norton was born on July 1, 1924 and was from Gardena CA. Norton's debut came in 1951, when he competed at Oakland. Starting positions in the field of thirty-two cars are unknown, Norton ran a solid race and finished 8th. Marvin Burke won the race by more than three laps over Robert Caswell. Norton still had a mind to improve that though, climbing steadily in his next two races. He was a solid 3rd at Marchbanks Speedway in Hanford CA. Danny Weinberg would lead 126 of the 200 laps, to beat Marvin Panch to the finish line. He then shocked the NASCAR field when he drove to victory at Gardena, leading 19 laps and holding off Dick Meyer. Norton would start tenth, and take the lead when leader Johnny Mantz fell out. Erick Erickson finished third. Norton's final race came in 1952, when he competed on the East Coast down in Darlington in the Southern 500. Starting 54th in the field of 59, Norton struggled in the race, falling more than a hundred laps down and finished 35th in his 1952 Oldsmobile. Norton died on May 5, 1996
