JAMES  POHLMAN  -  04/18/1979

Pohlman came to JRM by way of Richard Childress Racing, where he worked in various roles, including crew chief for four NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2022 with Sheldon Creed, as well as two in the NASCAR Cup Series with Austin Dillon and Austin Hill.  Prior to his crew chief duties at RCR, the 43-year-old Illinois native most notably served as the crew chief for former Formula 1 driver and two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Juan Pablo Montoya at Chip Ganassi Racing in 2011.  In 17 starts the duo posted two top ten finishes, with a best showing of seventh at Watkins Glen.  Pohlman moved over to work with Justin Allgaier in 2023.  This wasn’t the first time that Pohlman and Allgaier had been paired together, as the duo secured the ARCA Menards Series championship in 2008.  They looked to build off a strong 2022 campaign for the #7 team that saw the veteran driver and fellow Illinois native earn three wins, 16 top fives, 23 top 10s and advance to the Championship 4

in the Xfinity Playoffs.  They kicked off the season like a house on fire; posting a third place finish as the season opened at Daytona.  They followed that with another third at Fontana, and then a second place run at Las Vegas.  They kept putting together good runs until they finally won at Charlotte.  They won again at Daytona and then again three weeks later at Bristol.  The pair advanced through each round and into the final championship race.  At Phoenix Cole Custer had the best car and led 96 laps on the way to the win and to claim the championship.  Allgaier finished third in the race; second in points.  They will be back together again in 2024.
